Moments in Mauritius; Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort and Spa
Moments in Mauritius…the purpose of this trip was to find an idyllic beach, switch off our phones for 10 days and eat gourmet cuisine washed down with Pina-Colada until our hearts content. And thanks to Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok resort that’s exactly what we did, this oriental palace offers everything that you could need in a personal paradise and you will never want to leave.
We booked this holiday for May to celebrate my fiancè’s birthday unbeknown it is actually the beginning of their winter season in Mauritius, but don’t worry the winter here is hotter than our summer! I actually enjoyed the temperature been slightly cooler for once… It was the kind of hot that comes with that nice breeze and the odd cloud, meaning you could sit in it all day reading and drinking without feeling hot and bothered. There was a small handful of rain, which lasted no more than 10 minutes each time and was quite refreshing.
Now my one and only critique and that is nothing to do with the hotel is the 17 hour flight is a bit of a stretch, which is why if I was to do it again I would stop off for a night or two at Dubai, and then get the flight to Mauritius. (It is around 7 hours to Dubai and then 6 hours to Mauritius, then add the waiting in between) so yes there’s a tip before you book!
But anyway after arriving to your room, greeted with a bottle of champers you will soon get over it, especially once you set your eyes on the view. We stayed in the junior suite with a sea view and it was insanely stunning.
I have stayed in some beautiful places in my time and this was one of my favourite hotels so far. Normally wherever I go I try and squeeze in as much as I possibly can, going out on trips, experiencing the culture and constantly taking snaps and updating my phone, which isn’t really relaxing or switching off. But this time we only left the hotel once, well “officially” anyway, the hotel has two separate islands in which they own…the Ile aux Cerfs golf club which we had lunch on and floats in the widest lagoon in Mauritius. And just a stone’s throw away is Ilot Mangènie, this is a charming little island and my favourite of the two…think crystal clear water, white sand beaches and a sea breeze (take me back). You have your own butler waiting on your every need, they greet you with a cooling cloth and clean your sunglasses on arrival. There are speed boats every 20 minutes at the jetty that take you over free of charge, so you can come back and forth as you please. Seriously what more could you need?? We spent our last day on Ilot Mangènie enjoying the day party that is on every month, DJ’s from Dubai had flown out for the occasion and the setting was magical!
What I will miss the most is our morning routine (yes we set an alarm even on holiday) because mornings in paradise can’t be missed. Kicking of most mornings with a quick blast in the gym, a jog down the beach and À la carte breakfast at our designated spot just metres away from the sea. Food and a stunning view is the way to my heart.
The standard of privacy and luxury is something else, this hotel is known to be the best on the island, and that isn’t questionable. Think postcard perfect views, sparkling turquoise waters and uninterrupted landscape.
There is a handful of restaurants, bars and also entertainment every night, with Jazz singers, bands and DJ’s setting a classy vibe.
I will be DEFINITELY be returning to this beloved island again and I would recommend to anyone that is looking for an exceptional luxurious and relaxing experience to stay at the Shangri-la Le Touessrok Resort and Spa. We wanted a slice of heaven to escape reality for 10 days and that’s exactly what we got!
…And now I must finish packing because I have a plane to catch! IBIZA here I come!
